Individual Therapy

A Safe Space to Heal From…

It gets better.

Many who endured pain in childhood such as sexual, emotional, or physical abuse do not know these wounds can live on in the nervous system resulting in problems with relationships, depression, anxiety, PTSD and Complex PTSD. We work experientially with how these blocks show up in your daily life and do not focus on reliving the past. This is gentle, beautiful work. Little shifts in session create lasting change.

Relationship Therapy for One

Relationship therapy for one is individual therapy with a focus on working through issues in your current relationships. We use whatever feels emotionally charged as a doorway to healing, which may include healing trauma and early attachment wounds. We may practice tuning into your needs in relationships, embodied communication, and boundaries. We may heal root causes of negative patterns in relationships and practice ways you can shift dynamics in your current relationships. This work draws from attachment science and research-based relational therapies such as Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT or EFCT), and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).

My Style is Compassionate and Warm

I blend several experiential methods including IFS-informed Parts Work, Brainspotting, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), and EMDR. If you are a visual person we may also integrate art therapy into any of the methods working well for you. If needed and wanted, I also integrate spiritual healing and energy healing into the work.

Are you getting stuck in EFT couples or family therapy?

Individual trauma therapy through an EFT lens may help move things along. If you have trouble de-escalating your negative cycle it may be from unresolved trauma responses in the nervous system - fight, flight, freeze, and collapse. This also applies to caregiver blocks if you are in family therapy. In these cases, EFT or EFFT may be very slow-going because the reactivity is driven by nervous system processes that are deeper in the brain than the emotions being so artfully and lovingly cared for in EFT. As an EFT couple’s therapist who specializes in several kinds of somatic and brain-based trauma methods, I love supporting trauma survivors in EFT - whether the trauma was sexual, physical, neglect, or emotional. We can tailor the work to specifically address these trauma-related blocks to de-escalation or caregiver responsiveness.

Integrative Spiritual Healing

Is spirituality a resource in your life? Depending on your goals, we may work in the meeting places of the mind, body, and spirit. For some, spirituality can empower therapy by tapping into one's deep core essence. I welcome all beliefs and practices, including 12-step recovery.
